Ever since 50 Cent’s absolutely horrendous ceremonial first pitch back in May, any celebrity that takes the mound is basically on notice. Fortunately for Jack White, he will not be the subject of the same type of ridicule.
White threw the ceremonial first pitch at last night’s Detroit Tigers game against the Chicago White Sox, and if the 11-4 Tigers loss is any indication, it was perhaps the highlight of the game for Detroit fans.
The video below shows White pitching from the top of the mound (bonus points), and even though is was a bit low, his pitch wasn’t half bad. Also, it was “Christmas in July” night at the park, which explains why Santa Claus is catching.
White even brought his Third Man Rolling Record Store truck to the park for fans to purchase various titles from his label, as well as special reissued Sun Records singles from Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison and Jerry Lee Lewis.
White is in Detroit for two shows on his latest solo tour promoting his new album, Lazaretto. He's playing the Masonic Temple tonight, which he saved from foreclousure by paying their back taxes that amounted in $142,000. For the latest news on White, head over to JackWhiteiii.com.
