Godsmack has released the video for "1000hp," the first single and title track of its sixth studio album.
The clip follows the songs autobiographical lyrics, mixing a present-day black-and-white performance with color footage of the group performing throughout its career, from its earliest days to the near-present.
Frontman Sully Erna tells us that he had a good time creating a musical band biography for the album:
"It's a really cool track, y'know? I mean, for sure we're not planning for this thing to be changing the face of music or whatever, but it was just a really cool moment for us to have a song about the history of the band...Maybe if this were three years into our career it would be silly to have a song like that. But next year we're coming up on 20 years as a band, and there's a lot of history there, man. And it was just a cool moment to reflect on that and be able to hit such a big chorus with it."
The "1000hp" album, Godsmack's first in four years, debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 with first week sales of 58,000 copies. Godsmack headlines this year's Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival starting Friday (August 15) in suburban Detroit.
