Canadian rockers Nickelback are slated to release a new single, "Edge of a Revolution," today (August 18) in advance of the quartet's eight studio album -- which has no title or release date but is expected to be released this fall.
It's Nickelback's first since 2011's platinum "Here and Now" as well as its first for a new label, Republic Records, after a long tenure with Roadrunner records.
Guitarist Ryan Peake tells us that unlike previous albums fans will not have heard any of the new set's material road-tested in any way:
"We tend to live in the moment a lot more these days. We were always running out (on tour) for so long; back when we started we would always try out new stuff on stage before we event went into the studio. These' days we're kind of, instead of us pounding it out in sound check and getting the next song ready to go, we're trying to actually enjoy the moment a little more. We're also traveling to different places than we did originally, so the touring cycle also lasts a lot longer. We know we don't have to jump back in the studio right away."
Nickelback is promising an "extensive" world tour to support the new album, most likely starting in 2015.
