RHCP “Working Every Day Writing” New Album

CLARK, PHILIPPINES - FEBRUARY 23: Red Hot Chili Peppers perform at the 7107 International Music Festival on February 23, 2014 in Clark, Philippines.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers are making solid progress on their next album, according to Josh Klinghoffer.

The guitarist tells the Australian web site Noise11.com that the quartet is "working every day writing," mostly at bassist Flea's new studio.

Klinghoffer reports that, "We've written musically 30 songs now...We have produced a more elaborate demo stage into the writing, at least more than the band has before." The album will be the follow-up to 2011's I'm With You, but Klinghoffer adds that the Chili Peppers have not yet decided if they're going to work again with Rick Rubin, who's been with the group since 1991's Blood Sugar Sex Magik.

"That is sort of up in the air still," Klinghoffer says. "Normally he becomes involved in the arranging process but he hasn't yet been which is good for me. I like it the way we are doing it so far. There has not been an official producer named yet so in the absence of that you never know what could happen."

Klinghoffer has released a new album, "How's Your Process (Work)" with his other band, Dot Hacker, with a sequel, "How's Your Process (Play)," due out in October.
