The Metallica/Lady Gaga April Fool’s Joke Some Sites Fell For

A heavy metal web site’s April Fool’s story about Metallica got the best of some of its peers last week.

Several other web sites around the world picked up and ran as fact MetalDen.com’s post claiming that the group was recording a new project, The White Album, with Lady Gaga – who joined the group for “Moth Into Flame” at this year’s GRAMMY Awards -- singing rather than James Hetfield, Hetfield playing drums and Lars Ulrich doing some lead vocals as well.

A fake quote from Kirk Hammett even predicted that, “Gaga is gonna kill ‘em all in the studio when she sings for us.” And the report suggested that Gaga hired Meat Loaf as her metal vocal coach.

The giveway: “A Gotcha! April Fools!” message at the bottom of the story. Retractions were quickly made by the sites that ran with the story.

Metallica is, of course, preparing for a North American tour that kicks of May 10 in Baltimore.
