Report: Billy Corgan Purchasing National Wrestling Alliance

It appears Smashing Pumpkins leader Billy Corgan may be returning to the wrestling world soon.

Several sources are that Corgan is negotiating to buy the National Wrestling Alliance -- and some say he's already purchased the largest independent wrestling league in the world. The NWA was founded during 1958 and is currently headquartered in Brownsville, Texas. Its televised events include the "NWA Wresting Showcase" and the "NWA Championship Live From Hollywood," and the league also operates its own hall of fame, which features the likes of Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes, The Iron Sheik, The Road Warriors and many more.

Corgan is no stranger to the wrestling world, of course; He was in talks to buy part of Extreme Championship Wrestling during the late 90s and was a partner in TNA/Impact Wrestling last year until resigning as its president in August over a disagreement about buying the company. A lawsuit was settled out of court.

Corgan has not publicly acknowledged anything about NWA yet, and he's been quiet on the music front amidst speculation about a reunion of the original Smashing Pumpkins lineup.
