Avenged Sevenfold has released a cover of Mr. Bungle’s “Retrovertigo” as part of the continuing “expansion” of its 2016 album, “The Stage.”

The track, released digitally, is one of six covers the group made during sessions for “the Stage” that are being released over the course of this year; It follows last month’s issue of the Mexican classic “Malaguena Salerosa.”

Frontman M. Shadows tells us that the additional tracks are part of an experiment that began with the surprise release of “The Stage” earlier this year:

“We told all the kids we were going to evolve all the records, but looking at rock bands and their streaming there’s really no point in doing that. You look at what Kendrick Lamar or Drake are doing, or any hip-hop or pop act; The streaming numbers are through the roof. And you look at rock and they’re just not there. So we’re going to…try to get some new stuff out to people. That all goes along with this record.”

Avenged Sevenfold is currently on the road opening for Metallica and is planning its own headlining tour for later this year.
