ANAHEIM, CA - JANUARY 21: Membes of the band "Stone Sour" attend the 2017 NAMM Show at the Anaheim Convention Center on January 21, 2017 in Anaheim, California.

Stone Sour‘s latest album, Hydrograd, got off to a good start this week, debuting at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hard Rock Albums chart with sales of 33,000 copies.

It’s the second time Stone Sour has topped that chart, following 2012’s House Of Gold & Bones: Part 1. Hydrograd also debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard 200, the group’s fifth Top 10 arrival, and at No. 2 on the Top Rock Albums and Alternative Albums chart.

It’s Stone Sour’s sixth album overall, and frontman Corey Taylor, tells us,

“We just wanted to make a feel-good album. We just wanted to make one of those throwback albums you just put on. There doesn’t have to be an overall message. It doesn’t have to be an overall statement…We just wanted to make a good, kick-ass hard rock album that takes you anywhere you want to go. You can put it on while you’re driving. You can put it on while you’re working, put it on while you’re at the gym. You can put it on when you’re hanging out. You just put it on. It’s like the classic rock playlist, like you put together a rock playlist because you want to hear these songs together. That’s what we did with this album, and it feels awesome.”

Stone Sour is currently on the road with Korn in North America and has announced performances on Slipknot‘s Knotfest festivals this fall in California and Mexico.
