One time, a long time ago, Preston & Steve played the hook of Neil Diamond‘s 1979 pop classic, “September Morn” to welcome a crisp, beautiful September morning. They played it again the next day and the day after and the say after that. Then it just kind of stuck.

Since then, the morning show has played that song sometime between 6 – 6:30am every weekday morning in September. If they forget, a listener will always call/text/e-mail with a reminder. This has gone on for as long as they can remember.

It’s time to change it up.

The Preston & Steve Show is looking for a local band or musician to record a heavy metal version of the Neil Diamond hit. All submissions should be sent to Preston@wmmr.com for consideration. Show us what you got!

UPDATE: The first submission is in! It comes from our friend Brian Fitzy, take a LISTEN

Version #2 comes from Brian Davis, a School of Rock teacher, audio engineer & producer: LISTEN

Former P&S Intern Doug & his band mates in Polytheist created the most #totalmetalbastardization version yet: LISTEN

Alt Rockers, The Sixth Year, quote the show daily and wanted in on the September Morn fun: LISTEN
