STOP THE PRESSES! We Can Call Him Billy Corgan Again!
Billy Corgan is back to being Billy Corgan again.
The Smashing Pumpkins leader released his latest solo album, Ogilala, during October using his full name of William Patrick Corgan and performed gigs under the name, too. He’s apparently changed his mind, however; Reports indicate that Ogilala is now being sold and is streaming as a Billy Corgan album, while the “WPC” has been eradicated from his album artwork.
Corgan’s Vevo account has switched from WilliamPCorganVEFO to BillyCorganVEVO, though his Facebook page is still under William Patrick Corgan. Corgan has not made any formal announcement about the name shift, however.
Ogilala is his second solo album and was co-produced with Rick Rubin; It features his first collaboration with former Pumpkins guitarist James Iha on the track “Processional.” Ogilala debuted at No. 183 on the Billboard 200 chart.
