It seems like there’s a new reboot announced every week, but this reboot news was certainly unexpected.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, the newly launched MTV Studios, a TV production arm of MTV that will produce new series for other networks and streaming platforms, will be rebooting a number of MTV originals including The Real World, Made and, most notably, Daria.
For the reboot, Daria will now be Daria & Jodie, which will focus on Daria Morgendorrfer and close friend Jodie Landon “as they take on the world, with their signature satirical voice while deconstructing popular culture, social classes, gender and race.” The reboot will be written by Grace Edwards, whose biggest credits come from her work on Inside Amy Schumer and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.
No word yet on when and where this reboot will air, but if a stronger focus on Jodie means we get more scenes like the one below, then we’re all in. (Side note: Hopefully, this doesn’t mean Jane Lane will be omitted altogether, because who didn’t love Jane? Or her brother, Trent?!)
Sadly, not all TV news is good today, and with this cancellation comes a true end of a trashy era.
The Associated Press reports that after 27 years and 4,000 episodes (!), The Jerry Springer Show has officially been cancelled. While no new episodes will be produced, a number of networks have bought syndication rights to Springer and will air re-runs. (Whew! That’s a relief.)
However, until those re-runs come back, take care of yourself and each other…and when you throw a chair
