Ground Hog Day
Punxsutawney Phil will make his annual Groundhog Day appearance Saturday. Thousands of people will gather at Gobbler’s Knob in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania to await the spring forecast. In keeping with tradition, the event includes Phil emerging from his simulated tree trunk home and looking for his shadow. If Phil sees his shadow, the U.S. is in store for six more weeks of winter; if Phil doesn’t see his shadow, you can expect warmer temperatures and an early arrival of spring. Phil’s odds on whether he will see his shadow is 1-to-5 he will see his shadow (meaning six more weeks of winter) compared to 3-to-1 odds on not seeing his shadow, meaning an early spring. For more details, live streaming, and other events that day are going, go to groundhog.org. 200 West Mahoning Street, Punxsutawney, PA 15767
