Pierre Robert to be Inducted into the Philadelphia Music Walk of Fame
Breaking news, breaking news, doo-do-doo-do-doo-do!
WMMR’s Pierre Robert has been named among the 2019 inductees for the Philadelphia Music Walk of Fame!
The announcement was made this morning at the Independence Visitors Center in Old City. Alan Rubens, chairman of the Philadelphia Music Alliance, said, “Pierre has been a radio staple for the ‘Good Citizens’ of Philadelphia over 38 years…. Pierre shares it all on WMMR’s midday show with his daily features, exclusive artist interviews, live in-studio performances and ‘on this day in history’ lessons. (He) is one of the most recognized personalities in the City of Philadelphia… and every Philadelphia disc jockey who has been inducted (is) a part of what makes Philadelphia such a phenomenal music scene.”
On hand for the announcement were Man About Town (and WMMR PD) Bill Weston, and Pierre’s kindred spirit Jacky Bam Bam. Bam Bam had a few words to say about his fellow MMR DJ’s induction to the Walk:
The Class of 2019 also includes Pierre’s good friends in The Hooters, plus The Philadelphia Orchestra, The O’Jays, Evelyn “Champagne” King, music industry executive Jody Gerson, and philanthropist Dorrance “Dodo” Hamilton.
Pierre will accept this year’s Radio Row Award on Tuesday, October 22nd during afternoon ceremonies along the Avenue of the Arts, plus a special grand gala event at the Bellevue Philadelphia that night. It’s open to the public; you can get tickets and more information here.
Congratulations, Pierre, Philly loves you!
