PennDOT has announced that Eastbound I-76 will be closed and detoured between the 30th Street and South Street interchanges in Center City Philadelphia from 11:00 PM Friday, August 9, to 5:00 AM Monday, August 12, for repairs and repaving of a section of the Schuylkill Expressway viaduct.
Awesome.
So, what are your options? Taking 676 around the city to 95 or exit at 30th St, go around the train station to Market and get back on at University Ave. Kelly Drive will be open all weekend, but MLK Drive is closed Saturday morning 6a – 11a.
Expect major backups for miles heading into the city. In the trustworthy words of Kathy Romano: just don’t go near the Schuylkill this weekend.
