Meet Ali, a two-time gestational carrier & HUGE fan of The Preston & Steve Show. Does her desire to help people grow their families make her a Not Your Average Listener? You get to decide!
Her submission: I have 2 kids of my own, a soon to be 14 year old daughter and an 11 year old son. I come from a big family so I always thought I'd have more kids. But we decided 2 was enough. Both of my pregnancies and deliveries were very easy and I knew, if I could, I’d want to be a carrier for someone. Side note: a gestational carrier is different from a surrogate in that an embryo is transferred to the carrier, rather than a woman using her own egg when being a surrogate.
Several years went by and though I’d tried to apply with an agency to be a carrier, I took medication that did not allow me to be a candidate.
My family knew I wanted to carry and when a family friend approached me, I jumped at the chance! The first transfer was a success and after an easy pregnancy, a perfect little girl was born for them! They couldn’t have been happier!
It was such a positive experience that I wanted to do it again right away! I put the word out and soon after a friend put me in touch with a family looking for a carrier. This go round was a little more challenging as it took 4 transfers before an embryo stuck. But it did! And they also had a little girl!
I feel like I’m not an average listener because I was lucky enough to help 2 families bring their dreams to life! Plus I’ve been a listener since your Y100 days! I’m a huge fan and listen to you guys every morning and the podcast during the day. I’d love to tell my story to your listeners!
