Courtney Love was honored last night (February 12) at the NME Awards with their Icon Award, but the Hole singer has another major accomplishment to celebrate: Being 18 months sober.

Love mentioned the sobriety mark in her acceptance speech, which can be viewed below. (WARNING: Some NSFW language ahead.)

"Thank you so much, I didn’t prepare any speech, I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to be disrespectful," opened Love. She recalled picking up an NME magazine for the first time back in 1981 and calling a friend of hers that morning and talking about the honor, which then led to, "I’m also 18 months sober today. I can’t believe that and that’s pretty wild. Thank so much, I’m very honored. Thanks a lot."

Love, of course, has openly struggled with addiction for a majority of her public life. Her continued fight towards a sober life should definitely be respected.
