Continuing their successful streak of hitting every pop culture highlight of the 80’s, tonight’s episode of “The Goldbergs” is dedicated to The Clash.
In the brand new episode Barry, who solely wears Flyers shirts, swaps out his orange and black treads for a band tee in hopes of winning the affection of the girl of his dreams. In a key plot twist, The Clash t-shirt is given to Barry after he unsuccessfully attempts to score a pair of tickets to see “The Only Band That Ever Matters.”
Spoiler alert: the pair end up at the concert. Cracking open Pierre’s Concert Calendar archives we can narrow down the date of this 1980-something episode to: April 24, 1984 when the British rockers headlined The Spectrum, September 26, 1982 opening for The Who at JFK Stadium, a few months earlier on August 27 or 28 at the Penn Rink or March 7, 1980 at the Tower.
Which legendary gig did Adam F. Goldberg recreate for Barry to attend? Check out tonight’s episode and you decide. Tonight at 8pm on ABC.
