Kurt Jefferies, Phoenixville guy who won MTV’s Lost Weekend with Van Halen

A real life “Hangover” weekend.

The year was 1984, MTV played music videos and bands gave the network access to everything. With those special permissions they were able to run unprecedented promotions like "The MTV Lost Weekend" contest which promised one lucky fan a jet ride to an undisclosed location to spend a weekend on tour with Van Halen.

In the promo David Lee Roth promised that you would have no memory of the weekend afterward:

Every kid from around the country sent in post cards to win, but it was one guy from Phoenixville who got the call. A representative from MTV reached out to Kurt Jefferies to make sure he was of legal age to join the boys for a weekend of debauchery. Once his info checked out, they sent Kurt the information to board a Learjet to meet Eddie, Dave, Alex and Michael in Detroit. That's where this real life "Hangover" began.

Kurt shared an oral history of the adventure for VHND.com plus it was turned into a 15 minute documentary by filmmakers Bradford Thomason and Brett Whitcomb:

Kurt called into The Preston & Steve Show to share his stories this morning. Listen to his stories on today's podcast: October 7, 2020.
