There is finally a way to see if the McDonald’s you are about to visit has a working ice cream machine. 24-year-old software engineer Rashiq Zahid is the creator of the unique formula.
He explains the process on Twitter, saying, “I reverse engineered mcdonald’s internal api and I’m currently placing an order worth $18,752 every minute at every mcdonald’s in the US to figure out which locations have a broken ice cream machine.”
Basically, this means that he has created a bot that tries to add a sundae to the cart on the McDonald’s app at every restaurant in the US. If it does not let him, the location’s machine probably not working. The name of Rashiq’s formula: McBroken.
Anyone who clicks on the Mcbroken website can see which machines at different locations near them are working.
Although the idea isn’t fool-proof, it’s pretty genius. It even got the attention of David Tovar, the VP of U.S. Communications for McDonald’s.
On Twitter, he wrote, “Only a true @McDonalds fan would go to these lengths to help customers get our delicious ice cream! So, thanks! We know we have some opportunities to consistently satisfy even more customers with sweet treats and we will.
