One time, a long time ago (think y100 days), Preston & Steve played the hook of Neil Diamond‘s 1979 pop classic, “September Morn” to welcome a crisp, beautiful September morning. They played it again the next day and the day after and the day after that. Then it just kind of stuck.

Since then, the morning show played that song sometime between 6 – 6:30am every weekday morning in September. If they forget, a listener will always call/text/e-mail with a reminder. Then it stopped. Here's why:

After spending 2017 playing rock covers of the song recorded by local bands, they realized the following year, that it was time to retire the joke. You may hear them play a little Neil on the first Monday morning of September, but that's it.

Take a listen to the listener submitted covers of "September Morn," each one is a little better than the original.
