The City Beat Crossed the Bridge into NJ for a Couple Stories
Stories shared from this week’s segment of The City Beat:
The NJ Plastic Bag Ban will start soon. In the coming weeks New Jersey will ban single use plastic bags and paper bags at larger stores. The law was signed way back in November of 2020 (remember 2020?) but businesses were given 18 months to prepare. The ban will be one of the strictest in the country once it goes into effect in May. So, don’t forget your reusable bags the next time you hit the grocery store! [source]
Why is the official Twitter account of Ukraine following New Jersey? A keen eyed Twitter user noticed that of the 24 accounts Ukraine follows, New Jersey is the only U.S. state that the country is following. NJ Governor Phil Murphy called the following a “badge of honor”. When asked why the account was following the Garden State, Ukraine’s account simply replied, “Cauz they’re cool”. Maybe the big appeal is not having to pump your own gas! [source]
Dining in the Dark has you experience fine dining…blindfolded. The idea is that while blindfolded your other senses become stronger and the food tastes better. Dining options include meat, seafood, and vegan. According to some studies, nearly 80 percent of people “eat with their eyes” so when you’re blindfolded smell and taste are enhanced. Just be careful reaching for your drink since it’s a candlelit dinner! [tickets here]
