The Joro spider, an invasive species that has already invaded Georgia from East Asia, is expected to migrate north throughout the entire East Coast.
According to LiveScience.com, the spider first arrived in the US in 2014. It is a bright yellow striped insect that grows to be about 3-inches long. After its hatchlings are born, they fashion a web parachute and fly as far as 100 miles.
Here's the part you need to hear: despite its terrifying appearance, the Joro spider's bite is rarely strong enough to break through the skin. Unless you are allergic to the Joro's venom, it poses no real threat to humans. So get used to them folks, they're expected to be the next Lantern Fly.
