On Thursday, the TSA announced that three vape canisters of marijuana were found hidden in a jar of peanut butter at the Pittsburgh International Airport. The canisters were wrapped in plastic bags and hidden inside the jar. The discovery was made when an officer was searching a checked bag that had set off an alarm.
This jar of peanut butter, packed in a checked bag at @PITairport, triggered an alarm. When a @TSA officer investigated why it alarmed, three vape canisters with marijuana that were wrapped in plastic bags were pulled from the jar. According to the TSA, the man had informed officers that the marijuana was for medical use, but thought he should still try to hide it.
“Not a good decision,” the TSA spokesperson tweeted.
“TSA’s screening procedures are focused on security and are designed to detect potential threats to aviation and passengers,” the federal agency says. “Accordingly, TSA security officers do not search for marijuana or other illegal drugs, but if any illegal substance is discovered during security screening, TSA will refer the matter to a law enforcement officer.” Farbstein did not say if the traveler will face any criminal charges.
My question is… that looks like creamy peanut butter, can we all agree that chunky is better?
