They did it. THEY DID IT!
The Phillies are the ninth MLB Team to achieve 10,000 franchise wins. The milestone was reached with an 11 - 4 win over the Reds in Great American Ballpark on Tuesday, August 16th.
Unfortunately, the achievement came with subtle amounts of fanfare. A few social media posts, some mentions during the game (I assume. Like Krucker, I missed the game too) and a handful of news articles. Which is why I'm taking the opportunity to flashback to one of my favorite moments in Preston & Steve Show History - 10,000 Marbles for 10,000 losses.
Fifteen years ago Philly went wild when the team was on the brink of losing their 10,000th. Probably because that loss came with a very prestigious title. On July 15, 2007, the Phils became the first franchise in all of professional sports to reach that milestone.
The Preston & Steve Show celebrated by recreating the scene from Animal House and poured 10,0000 marbles down the steps of the Art Museum.
Where’s the spirit? Where’re the guts, huh?
