Update on the Massive Avocado Giveaway in South Philly

As reported earlier this week, the local organization, Sharing Excess had three full truckloads of avocados donated for distribution. The number of avocados ended up being roughly 380,000 to giveaway each day.
One Day #1, they ran out in just a few hours. The distribution was scheduled to begin at 12noon. Cars were lined up hours before that. The Sharing Excess page posted an Instagram Story asking anyone who was planning to come after 2pm to make plans to come on Wednesday or Thursday instead. Limitations were put in place and all of the avocados were passed out much faster than expected.
To help make things move a little smoother today, the Sharing Excess account posted an Avogeddon update. The first slide is asking for volunteers. The second one clarifies that the line will close once they run out. That is expected to happen much earlier that the announced 4pm close time. Third one limits one case per car and the forth reminds recipients that all fruits are not perfect - no complaining folks!
