Thanksgiving meal

If you love food, and chances are you do, then one of your favorite holidays is coming up soon: Thanksgiving. When it comes to this celebrated holiday, people often debate about what Thanksgiving dishes and side dishes are the most popular.

Well, debate no longer, as Scholaroo.com has put together its favorite Thanksgiving Side Dishes Report. The report is “a study of the preferences and trends of people in the U.S. conducted by the educational research company and website search engine Scholaroo – Americans’ favorite dish to spend the holiday celebrating with loved ones is the creamy, delicious, and easy-to-make mashed potatoes,” according to a release.

“Thanksgiving is one of America’s most anticipated and loved holidays, being celebrated without an established gift component, in which everyone gives thanks for the things they have,” the study states. “When you think of Thanksgiving traditions, the delicious dishes typical of the celebration soon come to mind. Mashed potatoes, casseroles, sauces, and other delicious side dishes from different cultures make the perfect combination for the big star of the feast: a juicy, well-cooked, huge turkey!”

So, what’s most popular in Pennsylvania? The most popular Thanksgiving side dish in the Keystone State is a classic: mashed potatoes. As a vegetarian, I always love to munch on mashed potatoes on Turkey Day. It’s also the favorite side dish in 21 states including California, New York, and Tennessee, making it the most popular side dish in the entire country. No. 2 is green bean Casserole, which is also the favorite side dish in 12 states. No. 3 is corn bread, followed by baked sweet potatoes at No. 4 and cranberry sauce to round out the top five. Find the full study of the most popular Thanksgiving side dishes in America here. What’s your favorite Turkey Day side dish? Reach out to us on social media and let us know.
