Today (3/2) is the birthday of one of MMR’s longtime friends: Jon Bon Jovi. He and his band have been part of the fabric of our station since the early 80s, from playing in small clubs to giant arenas to celebrating the station’s 50th birthday with us.

One of the most memorable moments we’ve had with Bon Jovi is Pierre Robert’s very first interview with the band. Pierre says about that day:

“The year is 2002. The date is October 14th. I believe they were promoting the ‘Bounce’ album at the time… and it was just such a cool thing to have the entire band (there). We had Jon, and Richie, we had Tico and we had David, all four of them in a big room at the station with a studio audience, and they played a bunch of songs for us. We had a great conversation about a lot of things… and then we asked them if there was one more song that they would like to do.”

That song has become a standout in the MMaRchives: “Wanted Dead or Alive”. Jon had some kind words for Pierre and WMMR, too; listen to that performance below.
