Jake Gyllenhaal is set to appear in the 2023 remake of the movie ‘Road House.’ He has prepared himself for the role by hitting the gym to bulk up his appearance. While doing multiple scenes shirtless, he is not afraid to show off his new fighter physic.
The Southpaw actor plays Dalton in the remake. The role originally filled by Patrick Swayze. This time Dalton is an ex-UFC fighter who works at a roadhouse in Florida who is sent on a wild journey when trouble rises. Gyllenhaal’s physique for the movie including bulking up and defining his muscles, allowing him to officially weigh in at 185.5 pounds for the fight. He films the scene with ex UFC fighter Jay Hieron, who plays his opponent Jack Harris, that features the two going head-to-head to head at UFC 285 in Las Vegas, NV. For the official weigh in, the two have an intense altercation, leading Gyllenhaal to smack Hieron across the face.
“I can't believe I trained for six weeks for this s--. To fight this piece of s---. Just give me the belt now, come on M---, let's go,” Gyllenhaal’s character tells the announcer.
During the filming, Gyllenhaal is seen knocking out Hieron with multiple punches to the face before using a flying knee move, continuing to punch him until he was knocked out, winning the UFC 285 fight.
While preparing for the film, he wasn’t shy in the ring after previously playing a fighter in the movie Southpaw in 2017. Jake was familiar with the movements of portraying a realistic fight in the ring. Connor McGregor is featured in the film and helps with the production after telling the live audience to cheer for the movie as if it were a real UFC fight. McGregor will also be featured alongside Gyllenhaal for the movie, along with Daniella Melchior and Billy Magnussen.
