The Preston & Steve Show Livestream
Friday, March 17, 2023 Rundown
[00:00:00] Rhys Hoskins. Today is his 30th birthday! Getting to the playoffs last season was one of the hardest things for the Phillies. His bat spike was raw emotion. Preston had so much fun watching as a casual fan. The current Phillies camp is confident, focused, and hungry. To his knowledge, there was no pitch tipping when they faced the Astros. He just finished watching Wednesday and started watching Yellowstone. He has a long day for 7:00 games, starting at 1:00 and wrapping up close to midnight.
[00:24:41] Bizarre File. A toddler in Australia chased a snake in their front yard, leading to the discovery of a nest with 110 eggs of one of the most venomous snakes in the world. A man’s entire life has been shattered to pieces after learning that he is genetically related to his wife.
[00:31:31] Brandon Marsh. He always wears his charity bracelets, even during games. Last season had some of the best moments on the baseball field in his life. Preston always thought Brandon had some of the greasiest hair he had ever seen. It isn’t really. That’s just how it looks. He was super nervous coming into the Phillies. Kyle Schwarber and Rhys are the spokesmen of the team. Brandon is from Georgia but has quickly gotten used to Philly slang. He and Casey are afraid of sea animals. Brandon has been getting better at golf. He grew up as a Braves fan and loved playing against them. He appreciates that Philly as a city is a harsh critic. He does pull back his hair when he works out.
[01:00:10] Jim Haley. The gang wanted to talk to him because he is from Delco. Jim grew up and played little league in Upper Darby. He was signed to the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs this past December. The best high school players must up their game as they get to college and the minor and major leagues. Delco Jesus is Jim’s cousin. Jim is one of ten children. He is currently residing in an apartment near Clearwater, but he still lives in Delco full-time. He and Casey talk about pizza places in Delco. The Iron Pigs start their season at the end of the month.
[01:30:34] Florida Festivities. Steve says you must get down to Spring Training to see and enjoy it at least once. Kathy’s room is like a suite in comparison to everyone else. She thought everyone had similar rooms. There was very loud music in the hotel that was driving the gang crazy since they had to wake up so early. Casey is flying back to Pennsylvania tonight for his daughter’s Seussical show and will fly back to Orlando in time for the Universal Studios broadcast. Casey is going to see an alligator, but he has no clue how.
[01:43:10] The Connoisseur. Lunchables are going to become commonplace in school lunch programs. Schools will be able to purchase two different types being offered. Protein will be added, sodium will be reduced, etc. A viral TikTok exposes restaurants’ artificial sizzle tactics for fajitas. The video was taken in Mexico. Water out of a squeeze bottle creates steam on the hot iron skillet. A Girl Scouts thin mint seasoning blend is being released. It will be usable for a variety of dishes, namely breakfast and dessert items. A new lawsuit has a bone to pick with Buffalo Wild Wings. A man claims that the restaurant’s boneless wings are not wings. Theirs are not different from any other restaurant’s boneless wings.
[01:57:05] Tom McCarthy. He could eat chicken wings like M&M’s. He loves Spring Training. He grew up as a Mets fan in a Yankees family, but he now loves the Phillies. The egos are very low with the current Phillies team because of the culture the manager has created. Tom recently played gold with Rhys. Getting to know the players personally as a broadcaster is encouraged. Tom says Bryce Harper’s home run against the Padres was a magical, generational moment. He has not heard Nick’s 2008 World Series soundbite before. He calls Philly the most reactive city in the country.
[02:34:06] Hollywood Trash and Music News. Måneskin will be playing arenas in a world tour that begins this fall. Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen was violently attacked outside a hotel. Ozzy Osbourne could be coming out of retirement and hitting the stage. Wolfgang Van Halen says that the Sammy Hagar era of Van Halen does not receive the respect it deserves. The Cure’s Robert Smith has convinced Ticketmaster to refund fans.
[02:52:07] The Wrap-Up. Pierre joins the gang on the air.
