POTUS at Parc: President Biden Spotted in Rittenhouse
U.S. President Joe Biden gives the thumbs up to the audience before signing the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act into law in the East Room of the White House on June 17, 2021 in Washington, DC. The Juneteenth holiday marks the end of slavery in the United States and the Juneteenth National Independence Day will become the 12th legal federal holiday — the first new one since Martin Luther King Jr. Day was signed into law in 1983.
Over the weekend, President Joe Biden passed through our city to visit his granddaughter, who’s a student at the University of Pennsylvania. Per CBS, he and his family shared brunch at a spot not too far from where the WMMR studios used to be located.
Parc on Rittenhouse Square is owned by restauranteur Stephen Starr (who was a concert promoter back in the day – the more you know!). He posted on Instagram about the Biden family’s visit.
Rittenhouse Square was home to WMMR from the late 60s up until the mid 90s, just a few steps from where Parc is now located at S. 18th and Locust streets. Scroll through photos from that era below.
But the burning question on everyone’s mind is… What did POTUS get to eat? The Inquirer reports that he ordered pancakes.
From roughly 10:30am to somewhere around 3 (we call it Pierre Standard Time) weekdays Philadelphia rocks with (and loves) Pierre Robert on WMMR. Pierre Robert began his illustrious career at the pioneering progressive rock station KSAN, in his hometown San Francisco, but it’s through his uninterrupted 42-year tenure at Philadelphia‘s legendary WMMR that he’s made his mark. One of the city’s most recognizable celebrities will write about being at the center of its live music scene and greeting his legions of fans as if personal friends in the smallest clubs and largest stadiums.
