Pennsylvania City Is One of the Friendliest in America
The people of Pennsylvania are simply delightful, in my opinion. Now, a new study proves that Pennsylvania, or at least one city in the Keystone State, has some of the friendliest people you’ll ever meet.
The Washington Post is reporting on the Current Population Survey, conducted by the Census Bureau. The survey is used to determine the most helpful cities throughout America. Basically, the Census survey includes questions about volunteering and civic life, and those help determine the most helpful cities.
According to the study, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is one of the friendliest and most neighborly cities in America, writes Andrew Van Dam for The Washington Post. Philadelphia has an informal helping rate of 57.8%. The only city higher is Boston with a rate of 57.9%. Philly also had the highest formal volunteering rate at 28.7%.
The study says that participants were asked about how often within the last year they and their neighbors did “favors for each other such as house sitting, watching each other’s children, lending tools, and other things to help each other.” As it turns out, this is at thing in Philly, as the city also ranked high on the list for 2017 and 2019.
