Philadelphia Named One Of The Top Music Cities in America
Live music is a huge part of Philadelphia, as we all know. And now, everyone else knows too: travel website Fifty Grande released survey results that named Philadelphia a top music city in America.
Philadelphia Ranked #15
Fifty Grande’s list features the top 20 cities in the country based on a survey conducted in December. Their criteria centered on music’s importance to the reader when making travel plans. “As a music fan, when you’re considering travel plans, these are the cities that should be high on your list to visit,” the report states.
Philadephia certainly has a lot to offer if live music is essential in booking travel plans. Numerous events are coming up that fans might consider for a road trip.
Philly Concert Calendar
In addition to accommodating larger festival grounds, Philadelphia has a venue for every capacity size. There are intimate concert halls like the World Café and City Winery. Legendary mid-sized places like the Fillmore always draw a unique collection of acts from every genre. If outdoor concerts are your preference, the aforementioned Freedom Mortgage Pavilion is right across the water in Camden. Furthermore, the Mann Center in the city’s Fairmont Park has beautiful city views and an open-air skyline stage. Everyone from Beck to Kane Brown to Jurassic Park in Concert with the Philadelphia Orchestra are on the schedule there this year.
You may have heard that Taylor Swift is playing Lincoln Financial Field this weekend. Morgan Wallen, Bruce Springsteen and P!NK are also playing at the Phillies’ Citizen’s Bank Park this summer.
What Else?
Concerts aren’t the only thing that make Philadelphia a great music city. The Curtis Institute of Music trains some of the brightest young minds in the arts. The Philadelphia Orchestra and Kimmel Center offer free programs, jazz ensembles, and also produce a wide array of live performances, like comedy shows, Star Wars shows, and musicals.
