Pennsylvania: 2 Animal Shelters Awarded Grants To Help 100 Dogs
Zoetis Pet Care recently announced they will be providing grants to ten animal organizations nationwide. Two animal shelters and non-profits in Pennsylvania were among the winners and will receive Apoquel to treat up to 100 dogs in their community.
August is “Itchy Pet Awareness Month.” Allergic itch is a common condition in dogs. It is often caused by excessive scratching, chewing, and licking. If untreated, it can lead to very disruptive and chronic health concerns for dogs. Zoeits Pet Care explains, “The grant program is part of Zoetis’ commemoration of the 10th anniversary of Apoquel, the most prescribed medicine for effective relief of allergic itch and inflammation in dogs due to atopic and allergic dermatitis.”
Andrew Hillier, Director, Specialty and Dermatology Strategy at Zoetis, says, “These grants underscore the exceptional innovation that Zoetis has built in the veterinary dermatology space over the past decade. We’re proud to provide these pet shelters with the support to treat allergic itch for dogs in their care and to encourage healthy pet adoptions in their communities.”
Here Are The Two Pennsylvania Animal Shelters That Will Receive The Grants
The first shelter is the Animal Rescue League of Berks County in Birdsboro. Appropriately located at 58 Kennel Road, this animal rescue league has been helping pets since 1952. Here, you can adopt or foster dogs and cats in need. In addition, you can simply help by donating, volunteering, or helping with fundraising events.
Next, the Women’s Animal Center in Bensalem will also be awarded a grant by Zoetis. They are located at 3839 Richlieu Road, and are the “only open-admissions Animal Shelter in Lower Bucks County, Pennsylvania.” This organization has an adoption and foster program. In addition, they have a veterinary hospital that allows for online pharmacy services.
Zoetis concludes, “These selected shelters met eligibility criteria, including an annual intake of at least 100 dogs and were enrolled in Zoetis For Shelters.”
