Glenn Howerton Talks Whiskey, Always Sunny Bloopers, and BlackBerry
On Friday, September 22nd, Glenn Howerton stopped by The Preston & Steve Show for a chat.
Glenn’s mellow was a bit… harsh, to say the least. Why, you ask? The coffee from our kitchen at WMMR. Despite warnings from Nick and Kathy, Glenn decided to give it a spin. After all, you need energy for a show as early as ours, we get it. The taste, however, was so bad, that Glenn had to lead things off with a complaint.
In talking about the coffee, though, and how complex its taste can be, a natural segue could be made to Four Walls Whiskey. The company is a joint venture between Glenn Howerton, Rob McElhenney, and Charlie Day. In celebration of their decades-long friendship built within a bar, the whiskey brand pays tribute to the four walls the gang calls home. The inception and eventual production of the whiskey itself, in truth, made Glenn a bit emotional. After all, it was the culmination of so much hard work, both on the liquor itself, and the creative work he put in with his friends.
Speaking of those friends, Glenn also spoke with the gang about It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia. He spoke very highly of working with Danny DeVito, and in fact, the whole experience, saying, “The whole thing blows me away. The fact that we’re still doing the show, the fact that I even have a show that I created that’s still on the air, the fact that I’m working with Danny DeVito. I don’t take any of it for granted.”
Speaking of those friends…
The Always Sunny Podcast LIVE! | TD Pavilion at The Mann | September 23rd
On Saturday, September 23rd, The Always Sunny Podcast comes to Philly to do it all LIVE. The podcast is a look back on the past fifteen seasons of the hit show, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Creators and stars Glenn Howerton, Charlie Day, and Rob McElhenney go back to where it all began in 2005. They discuss their (sometimes limited) memories of writing and filming the show. They get a little help from writer Megan Ganz, too. Episode by episode, they re-watch Sunny and reminisce on their nearly twenty-year-long partnership.
Tickets are still available, and you do NOT want to miss this. We will be there!
Back to the interview, we took to discussing Glenn’s leading role in the film BlackBerry, released this year. The movie explores the growth and tragic collapse of the world’s first smartphone, and how it smashed huge enterprises before surrendering to Silicon Valley’s fiercely competitive companies. Glenn’s haircut is legendary. Similar to Casey’s most recent driver’s license photo. Glenn’s reaction to seeing Casey’s archive of photos is hilarious.
Speaking of laughs, we fan girl’d for a moment over our favorite Always Sunny In Philadelphia Bloopers. Turns out, the gang watches the them too! Glenn revealed that they pull up outtakes before starting a new series to remind themselves “how fun the show is film.” We got behind the scenes stories of a few of our favorite scenes. Hear those stories, and how Glenn ended up in a photo with Prince Harry, click on the playback of today’s show.
