Local Shots Artist of the Month Vixen77

Sadly, it's our last Wednesday with the ladies in Vixen77, MMR's Local Shots Artist of the Month for September.

But what a September it was! Not only did we get to world premier their brand-new track "Fast Lane," but the ladies in Vixen77 also absolutely crushed it as the opener of this year's MMR*B*Q.

In fact, Vixen77 lead vocalist, Samantha Joan, will be in Delco this weekend performing at Yachtstock River Jam 2023, celebrating their 25th anniversary rocking the river at the West End Boat Club in Essington, PA.

Samantha will be joining her good friend, fellow Delco native and Nashville recording artist Sara Spicer during her headlining set on Saturday, September 30. The event runs from 11am-9pm featuring two stages and 22 stellar bands, including legendary Philadelphia and Jersey Shore rocker Mike LeCompt and his band.

This band also describes their music as "a bona fide punch in the face."

Vixen77 is the creation of guitarist, Caitlin, who dreamt of playing in an all-lady rock band since high school. She had been playing the Philly punk scene for a few years when she decided to put her dream in motion.

In late 2018, the band was formed. It's a five-piece, all-women band. The name Vixen 77 is a reference to woman energy and the musical influence of late 70s punk.

In a few short months, they were opening for Cherie Currie of The Runaways.  In March of 2019, they began pre-production and tracking of their full-length debut album.

Original members Caitlin, bassist Jaz, and guitarist Liz enlisted the services of Sarah Novack on drums and Samantha Joan on vocals.

The band, once again, went into the studio. They recorded their upcoming album, Easy Access, over the course of three days. 72 hours later, they had twelve bangers ready to release into the world. They returned to the stage in January of 2022. They've been playing to packed rooms around the Philly area as headliners since they've reemerged from the Pandemic.

Rock 'n' Roll should be loud, aggressive, fun, and rebellious. That's exactly what they look to bring to the world. Buckle up.

Another MMRBQ is in the books. A packed house at Freedom Mortgage Pavilion on the Camden Waterfront enjoyed an incredible day of Rock & Roll and a memorable celebration of the best rock station in Philadelphia.

The star-studded lineup rocked the main stage beginning at 1 pm on a beautiful day in Camadelphia. The list of performers included:

MMR’s Local Shots artist of the month Vixen77 got things started on the main stage inside the amphitheatre. They followed it up with an excellent interview with Brent Porche at the MMR broadcast tent on the Ben Franklin Bridge side of Freedom Mortgage Pavilion.

Tigercub, Finger Eleven, Dirty Honey, Ayron Jones, and Larkin Poe gave the crowd their money’s worth with a marathon of excellent performances throughout the afternoon.

Billy Idol looked lively as ever when he led off with “Dancing With Myself” as the penultimate act, and MMRBQ headliner Shinedown didn’t disappoint with the peak of the night.

The return of the Preston & Steve side stage gave the loyal listeners of 93.3 WMMR a chance to get involved in MMRBQ 2023. Some excellent karaoke fired up the crowd at Freedom Mortgage Pavilion.

Victoria sang a head-banging rendition “Zombie” by the Cranberries that would’ve made Dolores O'Riordan proud. L.J. sang “The Rooster” by Alice in Chains with authority that you certainly won’t see from many other 16-year-olds. "In The End," "Separate Ways," "Livin' On A Prayer," and "What's Up" were some other crowd favorites.
