Pierre Robert Hosts the Annual AIDS Walk This Sunday
Be a Lifeline to a person living with HIV. Join Pierre and WMMR in the 37th annual AIDS Walk this Sunday at Eakins Oval in Philadelphia.

UPDATE: You helped raise over $200,000 for the AIDS Fund! See photos here. Original Story:
Pierre Robert will be your host for the 37th Annual AIDS Walk Philly on Sunday, October 15th.
The walk supports the AIDS Fund, which provides resources to thousands of our most vulnerable friends, family, and neighbors with donations raised from the 5k Walk. This ranges from housing for those needing a stable place to live, to those who need a refrigerator to store fresh food and medication.
A press release tells the story of one such person who received a grant from the organization: "'Abigail' is a single mother who suffered a stroke at the beginning of this year and at the end of April she had a seizure. She has been out of work due to these medical emergencies, and consequently her income was reduced to below 50% of her normal earnings. AIDS Fund provided a $100 grant for Abigail's past due water bill - allowing her to continue focusing on her recovery and supporting her family."
AIDS Walk Philly takes place each year on the third Sunday of October at Eakins Oval in front of the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. You can help in the fight against HIV by registering for the event beginning at 7:30am and joining us for the walk at 8:30am. The forecast is partly cloudy with a high of 61*, so it'll be a nice, crisp fall morning.
At the walk, you'll see the The AIDS Memorial Quilt, which is in partnership with the National AIDS Memorial. The press release notes: "The Quilt is the premiere symbol of the AIDS pandemic, a living memorial to a generation lost to AIDS and an important HIV prevention education tool. The AIDS Memorial Quilt is an epic 54-ton tapestry that includes over 50,000 panels dedicated to more than 105,000 individuals. With hundreds of thousands of people contributing their talents to making the memorial panels, and tens of thousands of volunteers to help display it, The Quilt is considered the largest community arts project in history. Each panel memorializes the life of a person lost to AIDS and serves as a compelling reminder that the fight is not over yet."
Robb Reichard and Cari Feiler Bender joined Pierre in studio to talk about the history of the walk, the mission of the AIDS Fund, and how you can participate and support this cause.
