Today, October 27th, marks what would have been the 56th birthday of Scott Weiland. The enigmatic singer visited the WMMR studios a handful of times before his sudden and tragic death in 2015. Today, we'll take you back to our first encounter with him.
RELATED: Remembering Scott Weiland
On April 11th, 2000, Pierre Robert had his first of many conversations with members of Stone Temple Pilots. The band had just released their fourth studio album, appropriately titled No. 4. Scott Weiland, who was freshly sober at the time, and guitarist Dean DeLeo visited our studios for an MMaRchive Session that included performances of "Interstate Love Song", "Atlanta", and this Live from the MMaRchives pick, "Sour Girl". His voice was vulnerable, powerful and raw all at once.
Note: This episode originally aired in August 2018.
Since that first visit, STP would return to our airwaves several times, and they also played the MMRBQ with Scott, and later, singers Chester Bennington and Jeff Gutt.
