Pennsylvania Has 3 Of The Best New Museums In The Country
USA Today‘s 10BEST recently published the ten best new museums that opened across the country in 2023, and three of them are based in Pennsylvania.
“Each year brings a slew of new collections (or new facilities for old collections) for museum lovers,” 10BEST states. In Pennsylvania, these three museums that opened are all very specific and very different from each other.
So, here are the three best new museums in Pennsylvania, according to USA Today.
In Pittsburgh – The Moonshot Museum Ranked #8
Located at 1016 N. Lincoln Ave, Pittsburgh, the Moonshot Museum is a state-of-the-art space museum that is only open Thursday through Sunday from 11 am to 4 pm. “The first American lander since Apollo is being built right here, and the Moonshot Museum offers an unprecedented opportunity to get up close and behind the scenes of the 21st-century space industry,” the museum says.
In Gettysburg – World War II American Experience Ranked # 5
This historical museum is located at 845 Crooked Creek Road in Gettysburg. They have select hours depending upon the season, so you should check their website for hours of operation. In fact, for January, they are only open for private events. “In addition to massive tanks, Jeeps, and ambulances on display, guests can also explore the ‘Home Front’ exhibit to discover how American civilians contributed to the war effort back at home,” 10BEST explains.
Also In Gettysburg – Gettysburg Beyond the Battle Museum Ranked # 1
The best new museum in Pennsylvania is located at 625 Biglerville Rd. in Gettysburg. It is just 5 miles and 8 minutes from the World War II experience. “Beyond the Battle, tells the remarkable story of ordinary eyewitnesses and their extraordinary experiences before, during, and after the Civil War,” they say. Inside, there are 12 exhibits that contain rare artifacts that tell the Gettysburg story. This museum is open Thursday through Monday from 10 am to 5 pm.
