WATCH: This Horse Really Loves Shinedown

The only thing more amusing than watching humans rock out to their favorite band is watching animals react to music. There's something instinctual that clicks when the rhythm of a song takes over. We see it when dolphins dance in sync, and when parrots bop their bodies, and... when horses headbang.

Thanks to a viral TikTok, we've found Brent Porche's spirit animal in the stables of Autumn Purdy, a Canadian photographer and equestrian whose penchant for rock and metal has caught on with her horses. In the clip below, this feisty mare was caught headbanging to Shinedown's 2008 single "Sound of Madness." Clearly, she's a fan - no horsing around here.

This horse isn't a one-trick pony; she loves other songs, too, and the heavier the better. Watch her rock out to Drowning Pool...

...and Rammstein...

...but she was lukewarm on Rage Against the Machine. Maybe "Bulls on Parade" would hit different with a horse.

The members of Shinedown haven't reacted yet to the "Sound of Madness" video, but with the number of views the clips are racking up on TikTok, it's only a matter of time.

So, what should the horse listen to next? We think the Rolling Stones' "Wild Horses" would be appropriate. So would "A Horse with No Name" by America, but that might be too quiet for this filly.

The language of music is universal, and we're happy to share it with any and all beings - after all, WMMR is the "home of the rock n' roll animals" (throwback reference for our longtime listeners!).

Another MMRBQ is in the books. A packed house at Freedom Mortgage Pavilion on the Camden Waterfront enjoyed an incredible day of Rock & Roll and a memorable celebration of the best rock station in Philadelphia.

The star-studded lineup rocked the main stage beginning at 1 pm on a beautiful day in Camadelphia. The list of performers included:

MMR’s Local Shots artist of the month Vixen77 got things started on the main stage inside the amphitheatre. They followed it up with an excellent interview with Brent Porche at the MMR broadcast tent on the Ben Franklin Bridge side of Freedom Mortgage Pavilion.

Tigercub, Finger Eleven, Dirty Honey, Ayron Jones, and Larkin Poe gave the crowd their money’s worth with a marathon of excellent performances throughout the afternoon.

Billy Idol looked lively as ever when he led off with “Dancing With Myself” as the penultimate act, and MMRBQ headliner Shinedown didn’t disappoint with the peak of the night.

The return of the Preston & Steve side stage gave the loyal listeners of 93.3 WMMR a chance to get involved in MMRBQ 2023. Some excellent karaoke fired up the crowd at Freedom Mortgage Pavilion.

Victoria sang a head-banging rendition “Zombie” by the Cranberries that would’ve made Dolores O'Riordan proud. L.J. sang “The Rooster” by Alice in Chains with authority that you certainly won’t see from many other 16-year-olds. "In The End," "Separate Ways," "Livin' On A Prayer," and "What's Up" were some other crowd favorites.
