FLASHBACK: Zach Myers at Midnight on WMMR
It was on this day (March 8th) in 2017 that Mack, Myers and Moore paid a visit to Brent Porche at the WMMR studios for an impromptu live performance. They arrived at the studio at twelve… A.M. Talk about rockstar time.
Yes, late night listeners (calling all Full Time Vampires!) got a midnight treat that night. Brent was at the helm of the overnight shift, and the three musician stayed up into the wee hours of the morning to hang with us.

So, who are Mack, Myers and Moore? The trio consists of Zach Myers of Shinedown, along with JR Moore & Zack Mack. JR also plays with Ingram Hill, and Zack Mack can also be heard with Young Petty Thieves, and the band Brimstone Jones.
The three gentlemen played a show at Grape Room in Manayunk on March 8th, 2017, and their set consisted of reimagined versions of some of our favorite rock songs. Our favorite moment from this spontaneous MMaRchive Session is when they covered “Fat Bottoms Girls” acoustically, referring to it as their ‘bluegrass version’ of Queen.
Take a listen below. You’ll hear the gang set up the song, noting that it was a request from Pierre Robert and calling the tune “an homage to one of the greatest things God ever invented.” We couldn’t agree more.
As for what’s next for Shinedown, Zach Myers and Brent Smith told Brent Porche and Pierre Robert at last year’s MMRBQ that the band is winding down their album cycle for Planet Zero and charting a course for what’s next in 2024. Could that be new music? More tour dates? We’re hoping for both! Watch that interview here.
