South Jersey’s CJ Watson Electrical Wins Preston & Steve’s 2023 Camp Out Business Incentive Prize

Employees of CJ Watson Electrical Contractor joined The Preston & Steve Show in studio as part of their Camp Out Business Incentive prize.

The 26th edition of Preston & Steve’s Camp Out For Hunger went down on November 13-17, 2023, live from the packed parking lot of Xfinity Live! inside the Well Fargo Center Complex. The event featured Preston & Steve’s unique brand of fun, local celebrities, and many top tier bands, all in support of Philabundance’s mission to drive out hunger in our community. 

In addition to the typical 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes, 2023's Business Challenge also featured the prize of a visit to and breakfast on the Preston & Steve show. This would be based on a random drawing of all the businesses that donated to Philabundance. The winner was Hammonton, New Jersey’s CJ Watson Electrical, who managed to raise 1800 pounds worth of food (816.47 kilos for any international Preston & Steve fans). 

Started by C.J. Watson, and currently run by his son Brandon, CJ Watson Electrical provides various electrical installations, services, and repairs to the South Jersey area. As promised, we brought in the employees of CJ Watson Electrical, as well as their family members, for an in-studio viewing of The Preston & Steve Show.

You didn’t think we forgot about the promise of free breakfast, did you? Catering was provided by Embers Smokehouse and Tap, a barbeque joint based out of Chalfont, Pa. Embers treated our guests to breakfast sliders, sautéed potatoes, fresh fruit, and a decadent cannoli pudding cake. Thanks Embers! 

We didn’t just serve breakfast though. The wonderful people of CJ Watson Electrical were also treated to a great show! They heard Steve do his Mitch McConnell impression! They got to listen to a caller talk about their obsession with raw bacon! They met former 76ers player Todd MacCulloch, who geeked out over his pinball machine collection! 

Fighting against food insecurity is a great cause, and we’re sure CJ Watson would’ve donated regardless of a hypothetical prize! Regardless, prizes are cool. You and your employees could have the same experience! We have yet to announce the 2024 edition, but consider donating to Preston & Steve’s Camp Out for Hunger!

The Camp Out For Hunger has new champions. There was a new best dressed guest of the week. Our first ride with the mustache. And a Mini Hoop Medalist.

On Day #2, former Sixer and current Sixers analyst, Marc Jackson stopped by looker dapper as ever. His conversation was filled with a wealth of encouraging words for the people of Philadelphia. Our long time co-worker and fellow Radio Hall Of Famer, John DeBella experienced his first ever Camp Out For Hunger. He was always working at the same time that we are on the air, but his recent retirement gave him a little free time to spend with us.

The highlight of the day was the introduction of Mini Hoops Madness. It's a new take on the City 6 Challenge. We brought in 5 sportscasters to compete against each other for bragging rights, a sick championship belt and $5,000 donated to Camp Out For Hunger in their name by Victory Brewing. It got a little vicious. But all for a good cause!
