About AIDS Walk Philly
Per the AIDS Fund's website "In 1987, volunteers from Philadelphia’s gay and lesbian community center, Penguin Place, decided to organize a walk-a-thon to support area AIDS agencies and to raise public awareness about the disease. The Philadelphia Region's first AIDS Walk raised $33,000. Since then, tens of thousands of fundraising walkers have gathered each year to participate in the region’s largest annual HIV/AIDS public awareness and fundraising event".
The 5K walk will start at Eakins Oval, right out front of the Art Museum, with registration and donations starting taking place at 7:30am on Sunday. The opening ceremony will kick off at 8am with remarks from different members from the AIDS Fund as well as honored Emcee's. One of those emcees in particular, with coffee in one hand and microphone in the other, will commence the walk at 8:30am. Because when you think bright and early, you think Pierre Robert

How You Can Help
There are two ways you can make a difference. First would be to register to be an in person Lifeline 5K Walker and donate/walk on site this coming Sunday October 20th. The second would be to be a Virtual Walker to help raise awareness and fund while participating at home.
Per the AIDS Fund's site "Walkers, virtual walkers, and supporters of AIDS Walk Philly are a lifeline for the most vulnerable people living with HIV disease. Funds raised at the AIDS Walk Philly support AIDS Fund’s From All Walks of Life Fund, which gives vital small grants (averaging just $440) to the most vulnerable of those living with HIV: Those who find their health threatened because of impending evictions or the loss of health insurance or utilities".
All details can be found, including information about donating and registration, can be found here. You can also reach the AIDS Fund by phone at 215-731-WALK (9255). We hope you can join us this coming Sunday, October 20th and help in MMR's mission to "Putting Philly First".
