It’s been so nice to have My 2024 8th First Prize “JUNGLE EXOTICA” suit on display in The Winners Circle at The Mummers Museum. We went down and took her out and look forward to another beautiful presentation for 2025! Thanks to the wonderful staff at The Mummers Museum for the hospitality and taking great care of my baby!

The Mummers Parade is a vibrant and unique tradition held annually in Philadelphia on New Year's Day. Dating back to 1901, it is the oldest continuous folk parade in the United States. The event features thousands of participants, known as Mummers, who don elaborate, colorful costumes and perform in various categories, including Comics, Fancies, String Bands, Wench Brigades, and Fancy Brigades.
The parade begins in the heart of the city, starting at 17th and Market Streets, and proceeds down Broad Street to Washington Avenue. Each division brings its own flair to the festivities: the Comics and Wench Brigades entertain with humorous skits, while the Fancies and Fancy Brigades showcase intricate costumes and theatrical performances. The String Bands add a musical touch, playing banjos, saxophones, and other instruments as they march.
Spectators line the streets to enjoy the lively performances, and judging takes place near City Hall. The Fancy Brigades also hold ticketed indoor shows at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, adding another layer of excitement to the day.
Rooted in European traditions, the Mummers Parade is a cherished celebration of creativity, community, and Philadelphia's rich cultural heritage. It’s a dazzling way to ring in the New Year!
