Myles Kennedy on ‘The Art of Letting Go’ [Interview]
Watch the interview: Myles Kennedy tells WMMR about the new solo album, his tour that’s coming through Philly, and what’s next for him

July 2024
Myles Kennedy has kept pretty busy over the last several years. Since 2018, his musical output includes two releases with Alter Bridge, two more with Slash and The Conspirators, and three solo efforts, the most recent of which came out last October via Napalm Records. Brent Porche spoke with Myles just before the release of his newest solo album The Art of Letting Go.
Brent and Myles dive into the many layers of the record: the lead single "Say What You Will" and the accompanying video, the supporting players on the album, the cover art, and Myles' tour, which arrives in Philly this Saturday (1/25) at the Keswick Theater in Glenside, PA. Tim Montana and Sons of Silver will open the show, and you can get your tickets here.
We got updates on his bandmates' projects, too; he talked about Mark Tremonti's new Sinatra tribute, Slash's collection of blues covers, plus his thoughts on Creed's recent reunion, and if there is anything in the works to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Alter Bridge's debut album One Day Remains.
Myles is a big believer in musical access for all. He and his wife Selena have a great organization called The Future Song Foundation, which provides funding to ensure that kids have access to musical instruction and instruments which are fundamental parts of a complete education. He told Brent all about their mission and how to help the next generation through music.
We'll see you at the Myles Kennedy show at the Keswick this Saturday! Get more gigs on MMR's official Concert Calendar.

Rock Acts Booked for 2025 Mainstream Festivals
There are plenty of rock festivals in the United States, like Sonic Temple and Louder Than Life. Many of the biggest names in rock and metal can be found on the bills of these festivals. But even as the 2025 mainstream festivals (which tend to cater to more pop and hip-hop acts) are being announced, we're happy to see that rockers aren't being overlooked.
While festival season has yet to kick off this year, it's never too early to look forward to its excitement and warmer weather. So far, here are all of the rock acts booked at 2025 mainstream festivals.
New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival
The New Orleans Jazz Fest runs from April 24 through May 4. As a result, this sprawling festival has a sprawling music lineup, and in 2025, it happens to feature some major rock acts. They include Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews Band, Lenny Kravitz, Santana, John Fogerty, Cage the Elephant, My Morning Jacket, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and Cheap Trick.
Complete festival details can be found at NOjazzFest.com.
Coachella
Coachella is one of the most popular festivals of the season. Despite having rock roots, the festival has evolved to feature more pop and hip-hop acts over the years. However, the 2025 installment won't be completely devoid of rock. Green Day is one of the headliners, and the lineup also features the Go-Go's and The Original Misfits.
Full information on the festival can be found at Coachella.com.
Bonnaroo
Bonnaroo has often had more of a "hipster" vibe, but like other festivals, it's clearly evolving. However, it was still jarring to see that Megadeth was booked for the 2025 installment of the Tennessee-based festival. Other rock acts on the bill include Queens of the Stone Age and Vampire Weekend. Oh, and Insane Clown Posse is also booked for Bonnaroo 2025. Honestly, we can't wait to see how they'll be received.
Complete details are available at Bonnaroo.com.
BottleRock Napa Valley
BottleRock Napa Valley has been around since 2013. Throughout its existence, they've been very rock-friendly and have featured the likes of The Cure, Robert Plant, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, MUSE, Stevie Nicks, Foo Fighters, and Pearl Jam on the bill.
While it seems that the 2025 bill is embracing a wider variety of artists, BottleRock still has some rock representation with Green Day, Sublime, and Cage the Elephant book. Full festival details can be found at BottleRockNapaValley.com.
Summerfest
Milwaukee's Summerfest is an epic festival that has historically run for well over the average three to four days of other festivals. For 2025, it's taking place across three weekends for a total of nine days: June 19-21, June 26-28, and July 3-5.
This year, the music lineup features Gary Clark Jr. and a bunch of big classic rock names, including Def Leppard, Tesla, James Taylor, George Thorogood & the Destroyers, Foghat, and Chicago. Complete festival details are available at Summerfest.com.
