Reality Shows are very easy to produce because they are low in cost so that's why they are made so fast. Some last a long time and some make it only a season or two. If you are already a star or even a reality star, you will get paid. But if you're a regular person, it's likely you're only getting a stipend. I was on Season 4 of The Biggest Loser and got paid $100 a day. After the fact, we found out that other contestants negotiated more money, but I was so young I was just happy to be there and didn't even realize you could do that. So my advice is that if you happen to get cast, definitely ask about the pay and advocate for yourself.
