On May 9, Longwood Gardens, — recently named one of Time Magazine’s Greatest Places of 2025 — brings its water jets back to life. This spectacular display - with an incredible 1,719 fountains - is the biggest outdoor water show in North America. The Festival of Fountains runs until the end of August 2025.

The excitement continues past August. Shows go on with adjusted schedules through September 28. In the Main Garden, people can watch streams of water dance and flow to music every day from May through October.

Weekend shows wow visitors all day long, 10:00 am to 10:00 pm, Friday to Sunday through August. September brings shorter days and 9:00 pm closings on weekends, while Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday shows end at 6:00 pm.

Six amazing fireworks displays blend colorful explosions with fountain sprays on special nights at Longwood Gardens. Summer shows light up the sky at 9:15 pm on July 3, July 19, and August 9. Fall shows kick off at 8:15 pm on August 31, September 13, and September 27. Remember - ticket sales begin May 14.

At the Open Air Theatre, four shows each day splash and spray at 10:00 am, noon, 2:00 pm, and 4:00 pm weather permitting. These shows carry on Pierre S. du Pont's dream from the early 1900s.

Illuminated Fountain Performances At Longwood Gardens

When evening comes Friday through Sunday, lit-up fountains create magical displays. These night shows, starting May 9, attract crowds of photographers and amazed children.

Illuminated Fountain Performances feature water that dances to hits you know and love. Performances this year feature musical themes such as Taylor Swift, The Beatles, and the 90s. There are many more themes, and you can check them out on their website

To manage crowds smoothly, guests need timed tickets. After 3:00 pm on weekends, members must book spots - except Gardens Premium Members and Innovators who can visit anytime.

Besides the fountains, visitors can enjoy Mother's Day events, backstage tours, and workshops. The Beer Garden comes alive with music while the Chimes Tower plays beautiful tunes.

Tuesdays are set aside for fountain maintenance. The gardens at Longwood Gardens are open from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm every Monday and Thursday during the festival. Don't miss the Festival of Fountains!
