El Chingón, a Mexican BYOB bar from James Beard-nominated chef Carlos Aparicio, has opened its second location in Fishtown.

The 1431 Frankford Ave. restaurant is limited to outdoor dining only, featuring shared picnic tables and shaded high-tops that accommodate up to 45 guests. Aparicio opened El Chingón's first location in East Passyunk in 2022.

"We've always had fans in the neighborhood who ordered delivery from South Philly," Aparicio said in a statement shared with the PhillyVoice. "Now, they can walk down the block and enjoy our cuisine fresh from the grill in a fun outdoor setting."

El Chingón's Fishtown location will serve many of the same foods as its South Philadelphia location. The restaurant is well-known for its cemitas, a type of sandwich popular in Puebla, Aparicio's home state in Mexico. Cemitas feature round, crusty buns topped with sesame seeds and filled with a variety of vegetables, beans, and several types of meats.

The Fishtown location will also serve various tacos on Aparicio's sourdough tortillas, as well as Mexican street-style appetizers and desserts.

The Fishtown restaurant will be open on Wednesday and Thursday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., Friday from 2 p.m. to midnight, and Saturday and Sunday from noon to 10 p.m. Takeout will be available.
