As the Philadelphia Eagles seek to defend their Super Bowl title, the team's leaders have turned to legendary quarterback Peyton Manning for advice.

Eagles' star tight end Dallas Goedert spoke with NBC Sports Philadelphia's John Clark about the meeting between the team's leaders and Manning for techniques to help the Eagles squad maintain their competitive edge.

“I would just say that it takes the work every day and you have to find little nuances,” Goedert said to Clark. “One thing I found was interesting was he would make fake quotes and put them in the locker room because nobody was saying that they were bad or they could beat them so he put, ‘(My receiver) can't get off of press,' and he'd put that in his receiver's locker. ‘Are you serious? He said that?' And it's just finding different ways to keep yourself motivated when the negative isn't coming at you.”

Manning, whose career spanned from 1998 to 2015, played with the Indianapolis Colts and the Denver Broncos. He won a Super Bowl championship with each organization.

Throughout his career, Peyton Manning has been named Offensive Player of the Year, Pro Bowler, All-Pro, NFL MVP, and a one-time Super Bowl MVP. As a former first-overall pick, Manning entered the NFL with high expectations and met them as he entered the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2021.

Writing for Newsweek, Justin Grasso commented on the Eagles' mindset. “While they know they have the talent to make a deep run and hoist the Lombardi trophy, the Eagles want to maintain their trademark underdog mindset.”
