Horror movie lovers and film buffs in Phoenixville will love taking part in a three-day ghoulish festival during the historic Colonial Theatre's Blobfest. The 26th annual festival will take place from July 11-13. It acknowledges the theater's starring role in the 1958 Steve McQueen classic The Blob.

This year, Blobfest will carry the theme “Camp Blobfest,” delivering an over-the-top festival experience complete with nostalgia, thrills, and fun. The festival will include a street fair, costume contest, and various screenings of the sci-fi film.

The festival begins on July 11 at 6pm with a sold-out stage show and run-out, a must-see tradition for Blobfest enthusiasts. Attendees will gather around a campfire with their favorite horror hostess and honorary camp counselor, Aurora Gorealis, for a night of spooky fun.

The evening will include live music, Shorty's Short Film Contest, and a thrilling reenactment of the run-out scene from The Blob. At 9pm, guests can participate in the Blob Ball, a throwback dance party complete with 1950s vintage outfits, themed cocktails, dancing, and classic music.

On July 12, the Camp Blobfest: Saturday Street Fair will kick off at 11am with the Fire Extinguisher Parade, paying tribute to the film's iconic blob-fighting scene. The fair will unite more than 70 vendors, live bands, DJs, exclusive Blobfest merchandise, a kids' activity zone, and a crowd favorite costume contest at 1pm.

Festivalgoers can also attend screenings of the original and Spanish-dubbed versions of The Blob and other horror movies throughout the weekend. An additional run-out will take place Saturday evening at 6:30pm, giving fans a second chance to take part in the activity.

The festival's final day on July 13 includes the Eighth Annual Blobfest 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon. Every finisher in each race will receive a Blob-themed finisher's medal. After the races, participants can enjoy a final screening of The BlobGremlins 2: The New Batch, and Matt McGinnis's Movie Riffing Melee: Camp-O-Rama.
