Getty Royalty FreePhiladelphia's independent booksellers are gearing up for an event appealing to book lovers. The third annual Philly Bookstore Crawl returns for a third — and what promises to be the biggest — year on Saturday, Aug. 23.
Approximately 47 shops in the city and surrounding suburbs will participate in the event. Bookstores will hold sales, author events, book giveaways, and special parties. Hours and promotions will vary across locations.
Readers can get their official Bookstore Crawl passport, which is available online and at several participating bookstore locations, stamped at stores that they visit.
The PhillyVoice reported the following new participants of this year's book event:
- Bookish Notions opened in Media in January. The store will hold an open mic night and children's book reading, along with special discounts on select items.
- Cupid's Bookshop in Manayunk specializes in romance. The store, which opened in April, will distribute free tote bags and books while supplies last.
